Reading comprehension doesn’t just happen—it’s constructed. In this session, participants will explore Roadmapping, a process for guiding students through the critical strategies that strengthen understanding: identifying the main idea, analyzing text structure, and retelling key information. Grounded in research highlighting the power of combining comprehension strategies, Roadmapping helps teachers reduce cognitive load and make thinking visible. Walk away with a clear framework and classroom-ready tools to help students navigate text with confidence and purpose.

When teachers ask better questions, students think deeper. This session explores how purposeful questioning and scaffolded supports work together to increase access, deepen understanding, and promote higher-level thinking for all learners. Participants will learn how to design and deliver questions that move beyond recall—supporting students through structured prompts, gradual release, and strategic scaffolds that lower barriers without lowering the bar. Grounded in high-leverage practices, this session helps teachers make learning responsive, and rigorous through the power of intentional questioning.

Learning is not a spectator sport—and every student deserves a chance to participate. In this session, teachers will explore practical, research-based strategies inspired by Anita Archer’s work on active participation. Through verbal, written, action, and reading responses, participants will learn how to design lessons that maximize engagement, check for understanding, and make learning visible. Walk away with ready-to-use techniques that ensure everyone does everything—no bystanders, just learners in motion.

Every classroom has learners who need just a little more support to access grade-level content. This session explores how “just-in-time learning” can transform small group instruction into a powerful bridge between what students know and what they need to succeed. Participants will learn how to identify prerequisite skills, design short, targeted lessons, and respond to student needs in the moment without adding more to their plate. Walk away with practical strategies to make small groups purposeful, timely, and impactful for every learner.

Stepping into a general education classroom as an instructional assistant or paraeducator can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re not sure exactly what to do or how to help. This  session is designed to give you the clarity, confidence, and practical strategies you need to make a meaningful impact. Whether you’re supporting Title I students or those with disabilities, you’ll learn how to reinforce instruction, encourage independence, and partner effectively with the classroom teacher. Walk away with simple, actionable techniques you can use right away—because your role matters, and your support makes a difference.
