Beginning of the Year Activity: Journey Through The Genres

Are you looking for a meaningful activity for the beginning of the year?

This genre study will get your students engaged and collaborating as they discuss the characteristics of each station they 'travel' to. Students will use their passports to collect characteristics and earn their stickers!

This is a great way to start the year with your students and set up your ELA workshop for success. Once this activity is complete, you can display it and use it as a reference for the entire year.

You can see it in action in my classroom here! Get some black frames to hold them so they stay nice for the year!

You can find this resource in my store! This is what you get:

  • Lesson Plans

  • Decor Banners

  • Itinerary to create groups

  • Genre Characteristics Answer Key
